Summary:
Vital to the success of the organization with providing OrthoCincy patients and visitors with a premier orthopaedic experience and focusing on their individual needs.
Responsible for assisting patients with medical records and completion of forms.
Essential Job Functions:
1.
Greets each patient and visitor in a welcoming and inviting manner.
2.
Communicate and work well in the clinical environment with interaction with patients, fellow workers, physicians and others.
3.
Treats each patient, visitor and coworker with compassion, devotion and respect.
4.
Timely fulfillment of patient records requests from patients, internal, law firms, record retrieval vendors, insurers.
5.
Ensures that appropriate paperwork is on file for copies of health records and ensures that only information requested is released by mail, fax, or digital copies.
6.
Assist patients, their families, and co-workers in understanding record procedures, fees, and order tracking.
7.
Responsible for collaborating with outside medical record retrieval companies on all types of disability forms 8.
Requires the ability to multi-task and work on multiple platforms and systems while ensuring all data remains private and confidential.
9.
Collect payments for services rendered per policy, including copayments and balances on patient accounts with accurate daily drawer balancing.
10.
Responsible for attesting to the accuracy of medical records from internal and external sources.
11.
Submits files/documentation to physicians and other health care professionals to obtain additional information.
12.
Assist patients with personal hygiene needs as warranted.
13.
Transfer patients with ambulatory issues as needed.
14.
Facilitates scheduling of patient appointments.
15.
Responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties:
answers phone calls, takes messages, fax, scan, etc.
16.
Maintain information within the electronic medical record.
17.
Distribute paperwork in an efficient manner according to protocol.
18.
Demonstrates superior interpersonal relationship skills necessary for developing and maintaining positive professional relationships with patients, peers, providers, clinical departments, the management team, and payer organizations.
19.
Ensure compliance with all guidelines set by government programs, and OrthoCincy policies, such as federal regulations, HIPPA, and the No Surprises Act.
20.
Takes initiative in performing additional tasks that may be necessary or in the best interest of the practice Requirements Education/
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum one year of experience in a customer service position, data entry, and health records, preferably in a medical practice setting.
Previous medical knowledge preferred.
Other Requirements:
Must be customer service oriented with a team environment focus.
Schedules may change as department needs change, including overtime and weekends.

Involves sitting and viewing computer monitor approximately 90 percent of the day.
Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc.
Must be able to remain focused and attentive without distractions (i.
e.
personal devices).
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
