As an Airport Manager with Payless Car Rental, you will manage the rental operation at an airport to ensure that it functions effectively and efficiently to maximize profitability while maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction. Performs duties and provides service in accordance to established operation procedures and company policies.
This job reviews and analyzes the performance of the airport and recommends to management changes necessary to improve results. This job impacts the operation by ensuring customer and employee satisfaction and effective fleet utilization and profit generation. This job exercises independent judgment, making the majority of daily decisions regarding the car rental operation at the airport. Approval from a higher level is required regarding concerns and issues as dictated in established operation procedures and company policies.
Essential duties and responsibilities, shown below (may vary based on airport assignment):
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Manages all activities and personnel at an airport related to:
- the servicing of customers at the rental counter in arranging for the rental of vehicles according to established procedures and current rate and discount policies.
- the selling of incremental products to customers. Ensures staff is properly trained, motivated and coached relative to each product offered and the sales process.
- the cleaning and preparation of returned vehicles for the next rental to ensure compliance with established quality assurance standards; monitors productivity
- the shuttling of customers from rental counters to cars or from cars to airline terminal.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Plans and implements staffing schedules based on business demands and transaction levels.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Ensures customer complaints are handled and resolved in a timely, effective manner.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Provides statistical information relating to transaction and revenue projections, comparisons to past results, share of market, salary and wages, manpower usage, etc. to management; consolidates statistics which projects expenditures and revenues based on past trends, and local economic conditions; analyzes and investigates unusual variations; makes recommendations based on data reported.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Assists management in the preparation of the annual budget by recommending proper monthly allocations of overall budget amounts; monitors all expenses.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Monitors the price of gasoline charges currently being paid and updates TSD and charts used at the rental counter.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Maintains adequate vehicle control in accordance with company guidelines, ensures proper missing vehicle reports are completed and filed with the Company's Security personnel and/or local police, and prepares follow-up reports.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Reviews the rate analysis which indicates revenue per day, length of rental, revenue per transaction and other data for each rate offered by the Brand in order to determine which rate is the most profitable; makes recommendations based on analysis.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Interacts with maintenance to maximize use by controlling idle days, coordinating identification of OOS, PM etc. vehicles.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Ensures all Quality Assurance standards are maintained.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Handles Corrective Action when necessary.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Hires, supervises, trains, develops, motivates and evaluates the performance of staff. Implements HR department policies in the area of discipline, discharge, motivation and performance in a consistent and fair manner, referring to the appropriate HR manuals to ensure adherence. Establishes, communicates, monitors and updates objectives for staff consistent with the Company goals and objectives.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Builds and maintains business relationships to facilitate organizational profitability. Includes building relationships with the following (among others):
- All airport authorities and other occupants of airport facilities in order to effectively address and resolve common operating problems caused by compliance with new or modified regulations, proposed construction within the airport, projected increases/decreases in deplaning and all other related matters; reports on the results of meeting and all other conditions or occurrences at the airport which may affect business; and recommends a constructive course of action.
- Vendors serving the facility (i.e. garbage removal, cleaning, etc.); registers complaints and negotiates changes to contracts.
Qualifications
Required Experience:
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ BA/BS - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ 2 + years of leadership and management experience
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Experience in car/truck rental preferred, human resources, training, customer service and general operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ General business knowledge to successfully operate an airport location.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Good organizational and analytical skills to track all appropriate operational measures and analyze operational performance results.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Strong communication skills. Ability to interact with both internal and external customers at all levels. Ability to manage and motivate staff in a team environment.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Creative problem solving skills.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Valid driver's license and good driving record.
ΓΆΒ ΒΆ Occasional travel
A valid driver's license is required for all positions. Drug screening and a background check are a part of our hiring process.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
